• Advanced
training in rational driving based on safety regulations In order to drive professionally, all established PCV drivers are required to undergo the 35 hours of Periodic Training within a five year period from 10th September 2008 until September 2013 (CPC for LGV follows on exactly one year later – e.g. 2009 to 2014). The 35 hours can be split into 1 day sessions lasting 7 hours each. To meet these requirements, we currently have 5 courses to choose from, all of which have been approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT). (2) Vehicle Maintenance & Loading – Includes Walk Road Checks; Fluids; Recording Daily Checks; Basic Driver Maintenance; Luggage; Passenger Loading & Seating; Vehicle Cleanliness; Lost Property; Complaints; Questions & Answers. (3) Driving (The Vehicle) – Includes Operating Systems; Driver Planning & Preparation; Braking & Controlling; Gears; Efficient Driving; Fuel Economy; Tyres & Dynamic Forces; Keeping Standards; Questions & Answers. (4) Driving (The Driver) – Includes Health & Welfare; Hazard Perception; Defensive Driving; Restrictions & Vehicle Limitations; Fines & Penalties; Questions & Answers. (5) Risk Assessment & Accident Reduction – Includes Risk Assessment; Accident Reduction; First Aid; Dealing with Accidents; Reporting Accidents; Damage; Spillages & Environmental Impact; Questions & Answers.
