DRIVER CPC (LGV) The new Driver CPC is for LGV and PCV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK. It has been developed as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers throughout their working life. Advanced training in rational driving based on safety regulations In order to drive professionally, all established Truck Drivers (LGV) are required to undergo the 35 hours of Periodic Training within a five year period from 10th September 2009 until September 2014. The 35 hours can be split into 1 day sessions lasting 7 hours each. To meet these requirements, we currently have 5 courses to choose from, all of which have been approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT). (1) Laws & Regulations – Includes Licensing; Health & Safety at Work Act; Drivers Hours & Rest Periods; Environmental Laws; Weights & Dimensions; Road Transport Act & VOSA; Accidents & Emergency Procedures; Questions & Answers. (2) Vehicle Maintenance & Loading – Includes Walk Road Checks; Fluids; Recording Daily Checks; Basic Driver Maintenance; Securing the Load; Vehicle Types; Complaints; Questions & Answers. (3) Driving (The Vehicle) – Includes Operating Systems; Driver Planning & Preparation; Braking & Controlling; Gears; Efficient Driving; Fuel Economy; Tyres & Dynamic Forces; Keeping Standards; Questions & Answers. (4) Driving (The Driver) – Includes Health & Welfare; Hazard Perception; Defensive Driving; Restrictions & Vehicle Limitations; Fines & Penalties; Questions & Answers. (5) Risk Assessment & Accident Reduction – Includes Risk Assessment; Accident Reduction; First Aid; Dealing with Accidents; Reporting Accidents; Damage; Spillages & Environmental Impact; Questions & Answers. Our driver CPC will be delivered in a classroom environment with an opportunity to undergo practical driving as part of the course. We will have periodic training courses running at our South East Training Centre on a regular basis and can arrange training at customer premises nationwide or from our Mobile Training Classroom throughout the UK if required.
